Confrontation with skinheads, rightist punks, and paramilitary groups such as the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) is common for Zagreb activists.
During the time of independence, the HSP was the militant fringe of a much broader societal shift rightward as Croatia fought for independence from Yugoslavia and dismantled its socialist and multinational heritage. It is this shift right that activists are working against as they imagine a more transnational community in opposition to the Croatian nation-state.
