Partisan explores the contemporary politics of remembering the World War II antifascist resistance movement in Yugoslavia. Filmed in Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia during the summer of 2000, the film draws on interviews, archival footage, Yugoslav-era feature films, popular music and original observational footage. Partisan explores the response of ageing antifascist veterans to the nationalists’ return to power and the rehabilitation of the region’s fascist past.
